Marina Press Barcelona

Project Requirements

Big Foot Systems were selected to provide custom support systems for 18 Denco condensers situated in three roof locations on the City Holdings building.

The decision to install Big Foot was first taken by the Mechanical & Engineering Consultant (B.O.D. Arquitectura e ingenieria, s.a.) after our proposal for this solution. The M&E Consultant appreciated the flexibility and aesthetics of Big Foot. The client immediately preferred this option as it saves times and reduces costs compared to traditional concrete methods.

When the M&E Contractor (Insclima, s.a.) got the project in hand they asked us to change the sizing of the frameworks, to fit the air conditioning equipment (AHU’s and VRV’s).

The framework was designed to support the following units:

  • 8 x MITSUBISHI VRV between 12.47kw & 22.80kw electric power
  • 1 x AHU TECNIVEL Q=4200m³/h L=4400mm W=900kg
  • 1 x AHU TECNIVEL Q=8800m³/h L=5000mm W=1600kg
  • 1 x AHU TECNIVEL Q=11200m³/h L=5300mm W=2000kg

The M&E Contractor appreciated the small space needed by the Big Foot system, the short delivery time and the ease of installation on site. The buildings flat roof has been a perfect place to use Big Foot frameworks to achieve an efficient and cost effective support system for air conditioning equipment.
